ACHIOTE - THE PETZ KITCHEN- URINARY, BLADDER and PROBIOTIC DIGESTIVE SUPPORT*

ACHIOTE is a low growing sustainable tree that is found prominently in the South American rain forests. It produces a distinct prickly red orange pod which contains the achiote fruit and seeds, and are classified as super foods, super fruits and adaptogens. ACHIOTE is a popular herb in Peruvian medical systems, also referred to as annatto and achiote.

ACHIOTE is used in South American traditional medical systems to help address conditional needs related to wounds, inflammation and inflammatory diseases, for skin infections and for digestive disorders. It is both water and fat soluble, so it can be used both internally and externally.

ACHIOTEcan commonly be found in numerous products in North America and worldwide, as it is used as food flavoring, as a food colorant and preservative, to ferment food, as an emollient in body care products and as an antioxidant oil.

ACHIOTE has a diverse nutritional and natural plant chemical profile which includes strongly antioxidant, mixed alpha, beta and apoco carotenoids and anti-mutagenic (most notable are bixin, norbixin and tocotrienol), terpenes and terpenoids, a variety of natural phyto-acids including folic, amino, ellagic, tomentosic and salicylic acids, sterols and flavonoids, probiotics and fructo oligo saccharides (referred to as FOS), digestive enzymes, probiotics, glycosaminoglycans, aliphatic aromatic compounds, inulin, geraniin, minerals including calcium, iron, phosphorous, Vitamins B2, B3, C and E, beta-carotene, cyanidins, essential oils, hydroquinone's, saponins, tannins, tryptophan, lysine, and high protein and fiber content.

ACHIOTE is an adaptogen. An adaptogen performs an alterative action and may help the body deal with and build resistance to stress. Adaptogens are highly specialized class of plants which help carry out what we call the 3> R function, or Read, Repair, Restore.

Do not give to pregnant or nursing dogs and cats.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

None reported. May interact with cardiovascular, hypotensive, hypoglycemic and blood pressure lowering medications.

CAUTIONS

Cautioned for pets diagnosed with hyperkalemia (rare) and hypoglycemia as It might raise blood sugar levels and may potentiate medications used to treat hypertension.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Add powder to your dog or cat's meal daily.Best if added to canned wet food, home prepared meals and treats, raw, dehydrated or hybrid diets.
